THE INAUGURAL DPTC MCDONALD'S HELENSVALE JUNIOR CUP
Well! We had a fantastic day with a great turn out of entrants in 3 age groups. Perfect weather, great competitors and a well-run event with cool prizes! We're sure everyone involved had a great day and we hope that this tournament will be bigger and better next year!
Our tournament players were:

Players competed in either 13 and under, 15 and under or 17 and under groups and we were very impressed with the standard of play and the great sportsmanship shown by all who entered. We had 5 entrants from outside clubs, the rest were members of Discovery Park Tennis Club. We hope to see this tournament grow in numbers in the future and going by the comments from the day, we are sure this will happen. Winners & Runner-ups received a trophy and cash prizes and all entrants will receive a McDonalds Reward Certificate and discount vouchers to Dreamworld and White Water World (keep an eye on your mailbox for these, they're on their way!)
Huge thanks must go to McDonalds Helensvale, our wonderfully generous sponsors who made this event possible. Also to our tireless volunteers and club coach Paul Fox who did a fantastic job of running the event and serving the tucker! Lastly, a big thanks to all our competitors who made this event so successful.

More about out junior programme:
Each school term we run a tournament for children of primary and high school age. It is sponsored by McDonalds so funnily enough it has become known as 'McDonalds Challenge'. Yeah, we're pretty original with our naming of stuff.
This programme is probably our most popular junior event. Players are placed in either Section 1 or Section 2, depending on the skill level and play singles and doubles matches against everyone in the section. Points are recorded and displayed each week on the 'challenge ladder' and 'individual points ladder' with finals matches played at the end of each term. All participants get free stuff, winners and runner ups receive a trophy and prizes!
